YESHIVAT OR CHADASH

Architectural Design & Project Management for Yeshiva New Light, Jerusalem

Creating Inspiring Spaces for Torah, Community, and Growth

Designing a Yeshiva in Jerusalem is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. It demands sensitivity, vision, and a deep respect for the city’s cultural, historical, and architectural context. My practice integrates refined architectural design with comprehensive project management to create spaces that elevate learning, strengthen community, and serve generations to come.

Architectural Design Rooted in Purpose and Identity

Every Yeshiva carries its own unique character—defined by its philosophy, educators, students, and spiritual mission. My design approach embraces this individuality with a focus on:

  • Functional, adaptable learning environments suited for full days and late nights of dedicated Torah study.

  • Architecture in harmony with Jerusalem’s urban landscape, balancing timeless tradition with contemporary innovation.

  • Thoughtful use of natural light, ventilation, and acoustics to support concentration, comfort, and spiritual wellbeing.

  • Efficient internal circulation, enabling smooth movement between the Beit Midrash, dormitories, dining areas, and administrative spaces.

  • Outdoor and communal areas that foster social connection, rest, and student wellbeing.

Comprehensive Project Management — From Concept to Completion

Building in Jerusalem requires experience, coordination, and precise oversight. I lead each project from its earliest vision through full execution, ensuring clarity, continuity, and quality at every stage.

  • Coordination with Jerusalem’s planning authorities and regulatory bodies

  • Donor engagement, budget development, cost control, and financial transparency

  • Contractor selection, negotiation, and supervision

  • Detailed scheduling, milestone planning, and progress tracking

  • Regular site inspections and rigorous quality assurance

  • Clear communication with Rabi, administrators, and donors to keep all stakeholders aligned

A Yeshiva Is More Than a Building, it is a home for Torah—a place where students grow, communities thrive, and the future is shaped. My role is to design and deliver environments worthy of that purpose.

Sustainability & Responsible Building Practices

Designing a Yeshiva in Jerusalem carries an environmental responsibility alongside its cultural and architectural importance. I incorporate modern sustainability principles to create facilities that are healthy, efficient, and enduring.

  • Energy‑efficient systems, such as LED lighting, smart HVAC, and high-performance insulation

  • Passive design principles, maximizing natural ventilation, shading, and daylight

  • Locally sourced, durable materials, including Jerusalem stone and regionally appropriate alternatives

  • Water-saving solutions, such as low-flow fixtures, greywater options, and climate-sensitive landscaping

  • Thermal comfort optimization, through orientation, façade design, and roof strategies

Healthy Environments That Support Learning

A sustainable Yeshiva is also a healthier Yeshiva.

  • Excellent indoor air quality, using low-VOC materials and effective ventilation

  • Acoustic comfort, essential for long hours of focused study

  • Abundant natural light and biophilic elements, enhancing wellbeing, attention, and spiritual atmosphere

My success is measured not only in the quality of the construction, but in the moment the doors open and the Yeshiva fills with students. A building is complete when Torah fills its halls.”
